Not Sunday Shout #5

It's-a not-a Sunday and I've decided to do one of my "general happenings, anything goes" blog entries, which I planned to always do on Sundays but didn't.

Today's Not-Sunday Shout is about a new section on the site, a few improvements I've made to the site's privacy-friendliness, and how I've finished all the Kane's Wrath expansion missions in my Command & Conquer 3 walkthrough.

New Site Section: WebDev Demos!

The site has a new section: WebDev Demos! This new section is a place where you can find widgets or examples of HTML, CSS and JS. The demos are editable live, meaning you can adjust their code and see your changes!

So far there is a demo for doing a responsive, privacy-friendly YouTube embed which doesn't have all that overlay the default one does. And also a demo on how you can utilise CSS Flex as a powerful responsive web design tool.

There's also a blank version of the editor which you can use whenever you want to test your own HTML, CSS and JS ideas.

Privacy to the Max!

I've made the following improvements to the site to be as privacy respec' possible:

• No cookies when browsing passively - PHP's session_start() is now only called if the session cookie exists, meaning no cookies will be set if you're just viewing pages on the site. Cookies are now only set if you post a comment (where cookies are required for them to work) or play a YouTube video (cookies are set by YT in this case and that's just one of them).
• Better YouTube Embeds - I've implemented the YouTube embed script I mentioned above accross the entire site. The thumbnails and play button are loaded from THIS site. This means the site won't load anything YouTube at all unless you click play on a video.
• Removed goatcounter stats - Don't get me wrong, goatcounter is fantastic and considered to be a privacy friendly option, so this isn't a criticism of them. But I just want this site to be as maximum privacy friendly as possible.
• No third parties at all - Due to all of the above, no third party content at all is loaded when browsing passively

Kane's Wrath?!

I've finished all the Kane's Wrath expansion missions in my Command & Conquer 3 walkthrough, which means I've completed the entire walkthrough! You can view the entire walkthrough in the videos section. I also hit 30 31 subs today, hooray!!!

To sum up, basically I've wasted even more of the universe's precious time buahahahahaha!
