Have you ever updated a page on your website, and then had to press F5 or even Ctrl+F5 to see the change?

Same.

Thing is, your visitors might not know they need to do this, and continue to see the old (stale) content!

This is no longer a problem on sites which are powered by NotSSG! The best bit, you don't even need to change anything in your site. Just download the update, and replace notssg-init.js and notssg.js with the new ones.

NotSSG cache busts every 15 minutes of the hour. This means your site will still benefit from browser caching, but your visitors will receive the latest version of your site no more than 15 minutes after you make changes.

On a personal note, implementing this has been quite the journey lol.

• Realising there was a problem at all
• Verifying it
• Working out a fix
• Dealing with Neocities non-canonical URLs (they seem to serve stale content even with cache busting (NotSSG solves this))
• Making sure everything still works on the file system, a local web server and other non-Neocities platforms

It's been... a journey lol. xD

But. Safe to say it's now fully implemented, thoroughly tested and 100% working!

I guess this update is a bit of a "behind-the-scenes" one. But, I hope you enjoy the "peace of mind" it provides regardless!

What's Next for NotSSG?

Well, honestly, I think this is it for a while! It's now doing its job. NotSSG users are able to update their layout in one place, add sheets and scripts, and not worry about stale content. Anything else would be outside of NotSSG's scope, so, I think it's done!
